Dr. Stahl has published three full length books in his career. The first two were geared toward divorce professionals, while his latest is a guide for newly divorced parents.

Book Cover Announcing a New Edition! Dr. Stahl's newest book, Parenting After Divorce Resolving Conflicts and Meeting Your Children's Needs (Second Edition), is designed for parents and therapists who help them. Research shows that one of the biggest causes of difficulty for children is their parents' conflict following separation and divorce. While many books for divorced parents are designed to help parents learn to coparent, Dr. Stahl wrote Parenting After Divorce to help those parents who are in greater conflict. A primary focus is on helping parents understand their level of conflict and learn to use their parenting plan to solve their conflicts. There is a section on "parallel parenting", designed to help parents learn to effectively parent their children regardless of the quality of their communication and cooperation with their ex-spouse. Dr. Stahl also has gathered advice and feelings from children themselves designed to help parents learn about the effects of their conflict on their children. Often required reading in court-mandated divorce education classes, Parenting After Divorce includes chapters on: Conflict, Communication, Co-Parenting and Competition; It's Time for a Truce; Your Child is Not a Percentage; Your Child's Childhood; Talking to Your Children; Children Aren't Property; Parenting Responsibly on Your Own; Taking Care of Yourself; Resolving Parent Conflicts; Dealing with Special Problems; Dealing with the Courts; Children's Thoughts and Feelings (a chapter by children).

Book Cover Complex Issues in Child Custody Evaluations, is also designed for child custody evaluators, attorneys, and judges but focuses on many of the more complex issues that child custody evaluators face. These issues include alienated children, high conflict divorce, domestic violence, relocation and other more complex issues. There is an update on children's developmental needs and a continued focus on the use of psychological tests and ethical issues in child custody evaluations.

Conducting Child Custody Evaluations is designed for child custody evaluators, attorneys, and judges to understand the basic "how-to's" of these evaluations. This includes a focus on interviewing parents and children, a special focus on children's developmental needs, and a section on ethical issues working with the courts.
